Field Trips

Field Trips at the Garden invite students to explore, discover, and engage with nature. Self-Guided Field Trips offer classes discounted access to our 110-acre campus , and our variety of facilitated field trips offer fun and educational activities aligned with age-appropriate TEKs.

All field trips include:

  • admission to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden
  • designated bus parking
  • discounted rate for adults included in pre-paid registration*
  • discounted rates available for Title 1 schools

Final participant counts and payments are due two weeks prior to the visit date.

*Discounted rate is only available for pre-paid registrations. Adult aides required for students’ 504 accommodations are always free and should be reported separately from the teacher and adult numbers during the registration process.

Becoming Butterflies – SOLD OUT

Available March 4 – April 12, Tuesdays – Fridays in 2-hour timeslots starting at 10:00 am and 12:30 pm
Maximum group size of 120 participants at 10:00 am and 60 participants at 12:30am
Join us for Becoming Butterflies field trips! These two-hour educational programs include a once-in-a-lifetime visit to the 2024 Butterflies in the Garden exhibit and 3 engaging, facilitator-led activities at BRIT. Request a date by filling out the request form here.

Making Connections in the Japanese Garden – Limited Availability!

Immerse your students in the culture of Japan while connecting with nature in the Japanese Garden! Participants in Making Connections in the Japanese Garden will tour the Japanese Garden with experienced docents and engage in enrichment activities. LEEDing the Way – Limited Availability!
MS/HS

Available Wednesdays – Fridays in 2-hour timeslots starting at 10:00 am and 11:00 am
Maximum group size 100 participants
Students examine the role cultural, social, and economic factors play in the development of environmental solutions and how ecosystem biodiversity relates to our Texas Landscape through a guided tour, then put their new knowledge to work in an on-site Engineering Design Challenge. Request a date by filling out the request form here.

Pricing and Participants
Discounted rates are available for Title One schools for all field trip programs. Rate details will be made available upon submission of a Field Trip Request Form.
Groups with 20 participants (including all price types) or fewer are charged a fixed fee, which is based on the type of field trip and your school’s Title 1 status.
Groups with more than 20 participants will be charged at the individual rates listed for your chosen program.
You can adjust participant numbers during registration, but they must be finalized by the payment due date, which is two weeks before the scheduled visit.
A ratio of one educator or chaperone is required for every ten students. Registration for mandatory chaperones is free of charge.*
Additional adults accompanying the group will be charged a registration fee. To receive the field trip rate, these adults must be included in the final participant count on the payment due date.
*Please note that chaperone registration might not be available for certain special exhibit experiences, such as Butterflies in the Garden.
*Adults needed for student accommodations under a 504 plan are exempt from fees and should be indicated separately during the registration process.
Payment Details
Full payment or an approved purchase order (PO) is due two weeks before the scheduled visit.
Accepted payment methods include credit card, check, or purchase order.
If payment is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation.
Schools using a purchase order must bring the final payment on the day of the field trip; participation cannot proceed without complete payment.

Cancellation and Rescheduling
Participant numbers can be adjusted until the payment due date two weeks before the field trip.
If payment was made in advance, a full refund for cancellations or partial refund for adjusted participant numbers is available until the payment due date two weeks before the field trip.
No-shows and cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the field trip are not eligible for a refund.
A field trip may be rescheduled in cases of extreme weather or special circumstances, depending on availability.
