It was 1973. “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” and “Killing Me Softly with His Song” played on the radio, “The Exorcist” terrified theater audiences and the Japanese Garden opened its doors. Join us Nov. 4 and 5 for a special Fall Japanese Festival to celebrate one of Fort Worth’s most beloved places.
Texas is home to more than 400 species of plants at risk of extinction, including 163 considered “critically imperiled” within the state, according to data from Texas Parks & Wildlife. The Garden is committed to protecting the rare plants of Texas. This sort of work requires the cooperation of scientists, state and federal agencies, land owners and members of the public. To coordinate their efforts and exchange information on research progress and best practices, the Garden is hosting the 2023 Texas Plant Conservation Conference Aug. 14 and 15.
The Garden’s new free shuttle service, the Beauty Bus, has been celebrated as a wonderful addition by guests, who are taking to social media to share their excitement. “Just what the Garden needed!,” wrote one poster on Facebook. “Wonderful!” said another, and “Wow! That’s awesome!” wrote a third poster.
In 1973, Richard Nixon began his second term, Pink Floyd released “Dark Side of the Moon” and “The Exorcist” beat out “The Sting” and “American Graffiti” as the highest-grossing films. Also, the Japanese Garden opened its gates. Come celebrate this milestone at the Spring Japanese Festival.
Dog Days was introduced in 2022 and has been a howling success for canine fur babies and their human companions. This year, the Garden is expanding the program to one weekend a month, allowing pooches and their favorite people more opportunities to frolic on the grounds.
The much-anticipated Lightscape, presented by Bank of America, has been open for about three weeks—and has established its place in the hearts of area residents.
