Throughout the month, acclaimed artist Patrick Dougherty will be working on the grounds to construct one of his unique, site-specific artworks. Dougherty bends, weaves, and twines twigs and saplings into massive shelters, towers and sculptures, each as unique as the site where it is built. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden (FWBG|BRIT) is excited to be a part of Gardens for Peace (G4P) celebrating peace nationwide. Join us for a raking of the karesansui (raked garden) and activities throughout the day, including a reading of The Peace Tree from Hiroshima, creating your own karesansui in small boxes, and much more. The Fort Worth Japanese Society will help guests create origami and lead an activity with wish ribbons used during the Tanabata Festival in Japan. Wish ribbon activity is a way for guests to promote peace.
