Gain Hands-on Experience!

We offer internships to qualified applicants at both the Botanical Research Institute of Texas and the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. With this opportunity, interns gain hands-on experience with professionals in the fields of botany, horticulture, education, marketing, and conservation! 

Education Department Internship – S.E.E.D. Camp Intern

Duration: May 29th – July 26th 2024, 35 hours per week 

Stipend: $3000

Location: Fully onsite at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden

Application Deadline: April 8th, 2024

This internship will emphasize the implementation of educational programing for the FWBG summer camp program, S.E.E.D. Camp. The intern will work alongside the camp director and lead teachers to assist with camp procedures and activities for children in grades PreK-8th Grade. Interns will prepare a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the program.

Research Department:
Herbarium Curatorial Intern

Duration: January 29th – May 2024, 10 hours per week  (flexible, 10 weeks)

Stipend: $1500

Schedule: Intern will create a regular weekly schedule that fits within 8am-4pm Mon-Fri. Availability on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays preferred.

Location: Fully onsite in the Philecology Herbarium at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden

This internship is primarily focused on curatorial work, aiding the BRIT Philecology Herbarium.  Candidates will be responsible for preparing, barcoding, and imaging specimens.  In addition, they will skeletally transcribe the specimens, and will perform other curatorial activities such as repairs with staff supervision.

All Asia TCN Internship

Duration: January 29th – April 12, 2024 (date range semi-flexible), 10 hours per week

Stipend: $1500

Location: Fully onsite in the Philecology Herbarium at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden

Application Deadline: January 21, 2024

The “All Asia Thematic Collection Network” is a National Science Foundation-funded effort to digitize underrepresented Asian herbarium collections in the US. This plant conservation internship provides experience curating a natural history collection, including imaging, transcribing, and georeferencing.

Education Department Spring Internship

Duration: Feb 20th – April 30th 2024, 8 hours per week (80 total)

Stipend: $1000

Location: Fully onsite at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden

Application Deadline: January 31, 2024

This internship project will emphasize the development and implementation of public engagement initiatives for Goats in the Garden through social media, videos, public programming, or other educational products. The intern will work alongside the Education team to design the project as well as assist with other programs such as Butterflies in the Garden Field trips and the Eclipse family event.

Goats In The Garden Internship

Duration: Feb 19th – May 3rd 2024 (date range semi-flexible), 10 hours per week

Stipend: $1500

Location: Fully onsite at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden

Gain field experience and contribute to a better understanding of urban land management practices by collecting data before, during, and after a controlled grazing project that will help restore the Native Texas Boardwalk at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.
